Karina Gibert is a researcher at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) since 1990. She obtained a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the Barcelona School of Informatics in 1990, an MSc in Computer Science from the Barcelona School of Informatics in 1991, and a PhD in Computer Science (in the PhD Program on Technical and Informatics Applications of Statistics, Operation Research and Optimization) from UPC in 1995. She has been working from 1991 on the interaction of Multivariate Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence techniques, basically oriented to the definition of hybrid Artificial Intelligence and Statistics methodologies for Knowledge Discovery in world ill-structured domains mainly oriented to support decision-making.
She is in the Statistics and Operation Research Department from the UPC, but from 1986 she is active member of the KELM research group of UPC. Since 1991 she advised 1 PhD. Thesis and 20 Master Thesis in the fields of Computer Science and Statistics and. Since 1994 she is a lecturer of the PhD Programs of Artificial Intelligence and Technical and Informatics Applications of Statistics, Operation Research and Optimization both from UPC. Since 1990 she teaches at Informatics Engineering and Mathematical and Statistics Faculty, both of UPC. Since 2006 she is a lecturer of the Master of Sciences in Artificial Intelligence and Master of Sciences in Statistics and Operations Research, both from UPC.
